Unknown Lumps. 2025

Unknown Lumps. single channel video. color, sound. 22’44”. 2025

Unknown Lumps is a speculative video essay about Yoon’s trip to Iceland to trace AI generated images back to their origins, only to be lost in a tangled reflections of the physical and digital landscape of the Nordic. It’s a reversed journey of image-making as a means of representation. It’s also an inadvertent pilgrimage to find the totems—the basalt henges, frozen waterfall, and fallen boulders—encoded in hyper-realistic pixel composites, waiting in the arctic storm.

Unknown Lumps has been shown via the 7th Wrong Biennial, the 18th Triennial Symposium for Arts and Technology in Connecticut College, and the Arctic & Nother Studies MA exhibition in University of Alaska Fairbanks.
